Who am I?

Well, Hello, World!

Finally digital revolution intruded into my life in the innocent form of a literary blog. It turned out that working in IT for the past 16+ years haven’t prepared me for creation of this elegant (turn on the sarcasm, please) site.  Does this speak of my general ineptitude to live in the modern blogosphere, or is just the sign that I need some social media tutorial? In any event, it does wonders for my spirit (insert smiley face here).

I think this will be a blog about books, movies, with a few writing samples, if I dare; and anything else that will come into my tired mind at the end of the day.

I love reading, always have.  My father taught me to read when I was 3 years old, because I drove the whole household crazy running after various family members screaming: “Read, read!!” Once I could do it by myself, I felt like this is what I was born to do.  We had a few big bookcases in our apartment, and the books in them were as precious to my father, as his kids, I swear!  Once my friend borrowed a Victor Hugo novel (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, if I remember correctly) and tore the title page by accident.  The scandal that ensued is very difficult to describe. My friend was eviscerated and banned from our house for some time, and I was prohibited to ever give her another book.

By the way, if you haven’t noticed it yet, English is not my first language, so please cut me some slack on itinerant mistakes and bad article usage.  We don’t have articles in Russian, and I find them most annoying.  I do have a literature background, having graduated from University with degree in Russian Language and Literature, but it was in another life and in another country (and besides, the wench is dead…).

Up until a few years ago I read only Classical literature, but was introduced, perforce, to the Young Adult and pop culture novels by my kids.  Now I don’t discriminate books on the basis of their genre, and read everything that strikes my fancy.

Well, this is it for my first post.  Good night!

  1. “Who am I ” is my most favorite question, I must say. Knowing how emaginative, creative, and well spoken you are, I am curious what you can write about the subject dwelling deeper into your true being. Looking forward to reading it. By the way, who are you talking to while you are writing? Most importantly I feel you enjoy writing, that heals. Hug

    • I usually talk to imaginary readers :). Sometimes I write just because there are thoughts in my head that want to get out. I haven’t even realized how much I miss it until I started writing again after a very long break a few weeks ago.
